Night Noodle Markets

Tonight we ventured out to Brisbane to enjoy the Night Noodle Markets.
There were lots of stalls full of delish Asian foods, which is not ideal for a woman who hates making decisions! But I couldn't resist some delicious Pho.
The markets were decorated with pretty paper lanterns and umbrellas and made for a great scene.
There was some great music and a beautiful Chinese dragon parade. Babygirl was not too fond of the dragons though.
The city is quite lively at night, with colorful lights all around. It was a delightful night out and we had some great company.

Bali Time!

I know I've been pretty slack with posting updates lately, but it's been a pretty busy few weeks and I have some catching up to do! We were oh so excited that the end of the semester had arrived. (Well, HB was less exited since it means finals had to be taken)
For me and Babybear it meant it was time to pack our bags for vacation! We threw our summer clothes in a suitcase, and not a day too late because it was 1 degree out that night. (Celcius of course. Don't ask me to convert it to Fahrenheit either, I'm officially a metric using fool. All I know is 1 is ridiculously cold, 19-22 is pleasantly warm though can feel hot and 30 is freaking hot. Oh, and 45 is Phoenix. I guess I have acclimated pretty well.)

We started our trip out right...a gigantic TV to watch the World Cup.
And a whole row to ourselves! Babygirl has always slept on planes. Even during our 32 hour journey to get to Australia she slept most of the way. She did have fun peering around the chairs to see what everyone else was doing. And she had some of her good friends nearby.
The drive to the villa from the airport was quite memorable. There were some pretty neat statues...
...and the Bali architecture is very interesting. I think I was a bit more preoccupied with the driving though. I mean, I knew it was bad but this was just insane. There quite literally are no road rules...except if you're on a scooter and a car behind you honks, you better move over to the side because they are going to pass you with barely enough room to avoid damage. Apparently Babygirl wasn't too thrilled with the driving either because she started our vacation by getting sick in the car.
The villa we stayed at was absolutely amazing. The view of the ocean was one of my favorite parts. It was a nice escape from the hustle and bustle of the city.
A couple days were spent just relaxing in the pool and taking in the view. There was a nice breeze up on the mountain and the weather was just perfect.
The rooms were absolutely stunning. We were very appreciative that our villa-mates let us have this amazing room. Huge bed with a view out to the ocean, jetted bathtub and rainfall shower. We were spoiled for a week.

And of course one of Babygirl's favorite features was the staircase. She loves climbing up the stairs. Most of the time she'll crawl up them on her own, but many times she makes you hold her hand while she walks up and down them like a big girl. She is getting so big and clever, and doesn't listen when I tell her to never grow up!
Her other favorite feature was the kids room. She loved playing with all the toys!
The first stop was the beach, pleasantly chilly water to play in and cozy little chairs to relax on.
Fresh young coconuts made for a refreshing drink. Babygirl absolutely loved it. She nearly drank all of mine. She's quite adventurous when it comes to food, she'll try anything and she likes most everything.
I was super excited to visit the monkey temple. There were monkies everywhere! We gave them some bananas (the best bananas ever by the way), and a couple decided to chill out on my head to eat them. No big deal.
At one point we became the tourist attraction. A large group of Asian tourists stopped to admire and take pictures of and with Babygirl (who was in the carrier). She absolutely loved it and smiled at all the cameras. It's hard to say no when she's loving it so much.
Babygirl has begun this obsession with looking pretty and cool. Ok, so that one might be partially my fault. She always pulls headbands off her head so in an attempt to get them to stay on longer I began telling her it looked pretty and would show her in the mirror. Now whenever a headband or clip is put on she looks in the mirror or gently feels it and smiles. She loved the glasses. They stayed on a whole 2 minutes at a time!
The beaches in Bali were beautiful. There's nothing more peaceful than staring out at the beautiful ocean and listening to the waves crash.
Except maybe scuba diving. A group of us went out for the day and got to do a couple dives at the Liberty wreck. It is so peaceful under the water and just watching all of the brilliantly colored marine life carry on was one of my favorite part of the trip. We even saw a huge sea turtle!
Possibly my favorite part of the trip was stumbling upon a sea turtle rescue organization. Our last day there we decided to kill a couple of hours in Kuta before we had to fly home. I am so glad we did! A little rescue organization had set up an area for the baby sea turtles to hatch without getting damaged by all of the people on the beach. As they hatch they count them and release them into the sea. The guy who was there was so nice and let me help count them and put them in the water bucket. If our flight had been just a bit later we could have released them to sea too!
Bali was a much needed family break. Sophia got to play with lots of friends...
HB got to spend lots of time with Babygirl, and even put her to sleep successfully!
And momma got lots of relaxing beach time with the family. I am one incredibly lucky woman for this to be my life!
